Examples of Mathematical Modeling
1) Your annual salary is $32,000. You are getting an 8% raise at for next year. How much will you be making then?
2) If you are going to be making $40,000 next year after getting a 7% raise, how much were you making before?
3) You invest a total of $10,000 in two different mutual funds. One fund ends up earning 8% interest for the year. The other earns 9.5%. How much was invested in each fund to get a final total of $10,887 after that one year?
Let’s say for MAT 117 you got a 89, 85, and a 92 on your 3 exams, each out of 100 points. You also got 192 points out of the 200 points for homework and quizzes. What would you need on the final which is out of 200 points in order to get an A (which is 90% or better if you look at your syllabus). Remember, the 3 exams are 50% of your grade, the homework/quizzes and the Final are each worth 25% of your grade!!!
