Writing Assignment

The goal of this project is for you to learn a mathematical topic by having to write about it. The final paper will be due on the last day of class.  There will be 2 rough drafts due just to make sure everyone is progressing through the project.  You may submit more than 2 if you would like.

The final paper should be 2-3 pages (longer is ok too) typed (double spaced).  The rough draft due dates will be established in class.  One draft will be due after we finish chapter 4 and another after we finish chapter 5.  The paper should contain information about Calculus.

What is expected of you for these papers (i.e. what you will be graded on):

v     Turning drafts in on time

v     Using facts to support any claims

v     Coherence of writing

v     Completeness of paper

Some ideas to help you prepare:

v     Why is Calculus important?

v     Give a brief history of Calculus

v     What is a derivative/integral?

v     How do we find derivatives/integrals?

v     Why are derivatives/integrals important?

v     How do we use derivatives/integrals?

v     There are some great sources aside from your 210 book that you may want to check out at the library
